2012 AAA Safe Teen Driving Contest WinnerThis is really cute. You don't need to go to film school to make a good video with a message.
Students
from Sacred Heart High School in Los Angeles are the winners of the AAA
Safe Teen Driving Video Contest. Their winning entry, Road to Bollywood,
selected from more than 100 submissions, portrays a group of teens in a
Bollywood dance troupe who drive recklessly to a competition.
The
video was co-directed by Danessa I. and Lisa J. Other cast members
include Brittney A., Victoria A., Veronica L., Laura M., Jennifer P.,
Nicole R., and Tahiez T. The students are donating their $2,500 prize to
Sacred Heart High School to purchase new computer equipment and
software. |

World Peace Game, a brainchild of public school teacher John Hunter,
pits teams of students against each other as leaders of countries in
crises and conflict. The students scheme and negotiate, compete and
cooperate, wage war and make peace. But the game is not won until all
countries enjoy security and prosperity. Says one fourth grader, "One of
the things I learned is that other people matter. In this game one
person can't win, everyone has to win. That taught me a lot about
cooperating with other people, being generous, and having an attitude
that, if you work together, you can achieve anything."" |

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Once
a Week online film festival is a weekly showcase of short indie films
under 20 minutes. All films showcased come directly from submissions.
Every Wednesday at 9pm eastern time the highest rated film will be shown
on the homepage and will remain for an entire week. Each selected film
will stay on the channel forever and as the festival grows will receive
more and more views. The first film was shown on September 6th, 2010.

Caine's Cardboard Arcade - Caine
Monroy is a 9-year old boy who spent his summer vacation building an
elaborate cardboard arcade in his dad's used auto parts store. He spent
months perfecting the game designs, making displays for the prizes,
designing elaborate security systems, and hand labeling
paper-lunch-gift-bags. Unfortunately, his dad's store is in an
industrial part of East L.A. and gets almost no foot traffic, so Caine
had exactly zero customers... until a random filmmaker, Nirvan Mullick,
stops in for a used door handle and buys a Fun Pass.
